Ephesus: Tickets, Terrace Houses, and a Realistic Day

One ticket does not cover everything

Entry to the Ephesus archaeological site is €40 on the official foreign-visitor tariff published by DÖSİM, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s revolving fund administration. That ticket includes the Ephesus Experience Museum.

It does not include the Terrace Houses. They require a separate €15 ticket, and there is no combined ticket that bundles the two. This is the single most common surprise at Ephesus: visitors reach the covered structure partway through the site and have to make a purchase decision they did not plan for, often after already committing their remaining time elsewhere.

Turkish package-travel law requires the traveller to receive written pre-contract information before booking. We treat the Terrace Houses question as part of that information rather than as an upsell discovered at the turnstile.

What the second ticket buys

The Terrace Houses are the roofed excavation of the residential terrace above the main street — interior rooms, mosaic floors and painted walls, visited on raised walkways inside a protective canopy. They are a different kind of visit from the open site: enclosed, shaded, and slower.

Whether that belongs in your day depends on how much time you have, and on whether your interest runs to domestic interiors as well as monuments. It is a question worth settling before the visit, because the extra ticket is bought on site.

The House of the Virgin Mary is a separate place

Meryem Ana Evi is not inside the Ephesus archaeological site. It is its own stop in the Selçuk area, with its own admission, reached separately. We do not print an amount for it here, because we do not hold a current official figure — and a wrong number on a website is worse than no number. It is confirmed in writing with your programme.

Published visiting hours for Ephesus differ between the national museum portal and local announcements, and they shift with the season. Rather than freeze a figure on this page that could be wrong on your date, we confirm the hours that apply to your visit and build the pickup time from that confirmation.
